Promotional Competition Rules

Rules published in terms of section 36 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 and regulation 11 of the Promotional Competition Regulations, 2010.

Preamble

These rules apply to the Tournament named in Section 2. The Competition is a promotional competition under section 36 of the CPA. These Rules form part of the Couch Cup Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy at couchcup.co.za/terms. In the event of any inconsistency between these Rules and the Terms, these Rules prevail.

1. The Promoter

2. Competition Details

• Format: Single elimination, one match per round

3. Entry Fee

Entry is free. No purchase or payment is required to enter or claim a prize.

4. Competition Period

Key dates — including when signups open and close, the bracket draw date, and the tournament play window — are published on couchcup.co.za for each tournament and form part of these Rules by reference.

5. How to Enter

Visit couchcup.co.za and complete the signup form. You will need to provide your full name, email address, South African mobile number, gaming ID, date of birth, and country of residence, and agree to these Rules and the Couch Cup Terms and Conditions.

You may submit one entry only.

6. Who May Enter

You must:

• Be at least 18 years old at signup
• Be a resident of South Africa
• Own a legitimate copy of the game title on the platform specified for the Tournament
• Have a valid gaming account registered in your own name
• Have a valid email address and active South African mobile number
• Not be on any international sanctions list

You may not enter if you are:

• Under 18
• An employee, contractor, or household member of Drummond Holdings (Pty) Ltd
• Involved in administering the Competition

7. How the Winner is Determined

The Competition runs in two phases.

Phase 1: Bracket Draw

Once signups close, Participants are randomly selected from the Waitlist. The draw is recorded on video and published on Couch Cup's public channels within 24 hours. Records are kept for at least 3 years.

Phase 2: Match Play

Selected Participants compete in a single-elimination bracket. Each round is one match. The winner of each match advances. The winner of the final is the Competition winner.

Matches are played using the settings specified for the Tournament. A match must produce a winner. If the match ends in a draw, both players rematch immediately in the same session and play again. This repeats until a winner is found.

8. Accepting Your Spot

Selected Participants are notified by email on the bracket draw date. You have 24 hours from when the email is sent to accept your spot using the link in your email. If you do not accept within 24 hours your spot goes to the next person on the reserve list.

By accepting you confirm you have read and agree to these Rules.

9. Match Scheduling

After accepting, you will receive an email with a scheduling link. You and your opponent each submit your available dates and times using the form. The deadline to submit availability for Round 1 is specified in your acceptance email.

Permitted match hours are published in the tournament announcement. Availability submitted outside those hours is not accepted.

For all subsequent rounds you have 12 hours from receiving your opponent notification to submit your availability.

The system automatically schedules the match to the earliest time that works for both players. If no overlap exists, the system suggests the nearest alternative for both players to confirm.

If a Participant does not submit availability within the deadline, the opponent wins by default.

10. Streaming Requirement

Every match must be streamed live on YouTube. This is mandatory.

Streaming is required to:

• Prevent cheating — if there is ever a dispute, the stream is the proof
• Protect you — if someone accuses you of cheating, your stream clears your name

You need a free YouTube account. On desktop, open YouTube Studio, go to Go Live, and start your stream. Make sure your stream is set to save automatically after it ends.

Your stream title must be set to: Couch Cup — [Your Username] vs [Opponent Username]

You must start streaming before the match kicks off and keep streaming until the final whistle. You must include your YouTube stream link when submitting your score.

If you do not stream your match and a dispute arises, the Tournament Director will rule against you.

By streaming, you agree that any gameplay from your match streams may be used by Couch Cup for marketing and promotional content.

11. Score Submission

After your match ends you have 4 hours to submit your score using the link emailed to you at match confirmation. You must include your YouTube stream link with your submission. A screenshot is optional but recommended.

Submit the final score. If the match ended in a draw, submit the draw score and you will both receive a rematch link to play again immediately.

• Both players submit the same score (winner): winner advances automatically
• Both players submit a draw: rematch link sent to both, replay until a winner is found
• Players submit different scores: Tournament Director reviews streams and screenshots
• One player submits, 4 hours pass: that submission is accepted as final
• Neither player submits within 4 hours: both eliminated players from that round are considered for the vacant slot; the Tournament Director determines who fills it based on overall performance

12. Cheating and Bans

Cheating — including submitting false scores, colluding with an opponent, or fabricating screenshots — results in immediate disqualification and a permanent ban from all future Couch Cup tournaments. Confirmed cheaters forfeit any prize and may be added to a public cheater list.

All matches are recorded via the participant's stream. Streams are cross-checked against submitted scores at random. The Tournament Director may review any stream at any time.

Submitting a false cheat report carries the same penalties as cheating. Reports made in good faith but unproven will not be penalised.

13. Forfeit Appeals

A forfeit appeal is only available if both of the following are true:

• Both Participants were marked as forfeit due to no completed match
• The opponent submitted a scheduling message but did so within the final 15 minutes of the deadline

Appeals must be submitted within 24 hours of the forfeit notification. The Tournament Director may restore one or both Participants, extend the match window, or confirm the forfeit. Any appeal judged frivolous results in immediate disqualification. The Tournament Director's decision is final.

14. Repeated Forfeit Review

If a Participant advances by opponent forfeit twice in the same tournament, their next match is paused for Tournament Director review. The Tournament Director may clear the flag or disqualify the Participant. The Tournament Director's decision is final.

15. The Prize

• Prize: R500 cash paid by EFT or PayShap to a South African bank account in the winner's name
• Number of prizes: One
• The prize is not transferable or exchangeable

The winner is solely responsible for any tax obligations.

16. Winner Notification

The winner is notified by email within 48 hours of the final. The winner's name is announced publicly on the Couch Cup website and social channels.

17. Claiming the Prize

The winner must provide valid South African banking details and proof of identity within 60 days of notification. The prize is paid within 14 business days of receiving valid details.

If the winner does not respond within 60 days despite three contact attempts, the prize is forfeited.

18. Records

Competition records are kept for at least 3 years and are available on reasonable written request via hello@couchcup.co.za.

19. Privacy

Personal information is processed in accordance with the Couch Cup Privacy Policy at couchcup.co.za/terms.

20. Disputes

Disputes are resolved under clause 13 of the Couch Cup Terms and Conditions. Nothing in these Rules limits any rights under the CPA.

21. Governing Law

These Rules are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
